Memorial Day: a day worth remembering.

Today we got up early and had a back yard breakfast cook-out! Some of our family and friends came over and joined us. Troy and Delvern cooked over the hot fire in the sun. Their efforts paid off because the food was great! We ate all we could! Afterward Delv informed me that the good flavor I was tasting was not salt but his sweat! ( Oooo Gross! what a tease.)
It was hot thanks guys.
I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the kids all playing happily around us. I had nothing else to do today but enjoy the holiday. It has been a long time since I have had a day when I could say that. After everyone left and I was taking my time cleaning up I got to thinking about my Grandpa and my other relatives....Bevells, Stallings, Stradlings, Randalls, Carnes, Merrills who have passed on. There have been so many loved ones who have left a great legacy for me. Their lives were lived well rooted on righteous values and TRUE GRIT... they left their mark on me as I learned something from each of them and felt their love. I am grateful to all of them. They are all worth remembering!
I am also grateful for brave boys and men & women who served our country, fought for our freedoms and gave their lives while doing it. We live in a time of abundance and privilege, everything we need at our finger tips. I hope we never take for granted our freedoms our blessings. I know we have been given much in hopes that we will do much. My Plan- to live each day with a grateful heart and to put my trust in God. This is the example that was set for me. THANK YOU...I will remember.
